I teach you how to get organized so you can THRIVE!

You Might Be One More Try Away From Success!

I hope you had a great week! So this past Tuesday I had a “project day.” A project day is basically when I spend the day organizing or doing something hands-on for work.

Now, I’m sure a lot of people are probably thinking, “But Alejandra, your house is already organized. What’s left to organize?!”

There is plenty left to organize! As I say “Organizing is a journey, not a task.”

And since we moved to this house there are still spaces that need to be organized that just haven’t been a priority yet.

There are also spaces that need to be re-organized that just aren’t working anymore (remember, systems need to be changed just as often as life changes).

Anyway, Tuesday I was organizing my home office and I found myself getting a bit frustrated because the one system I was trying to setup just wasn’t working at all.

It’s as if everything I was trying just looked bad, didn’t function, didn’t hold up well, etc.

If you ask me, it can be quite discouraging when nothing seems to be going right. Not only is it discouraging, but you feel like you’re wasting time and getting nowhere.

Well, after 2 hours of working on just one small system in my home office, I felt as if I was ready to throw in the towel and move on to plan B.

However, I still had one more idea I wanted to try. It was an idea that involved taking everything down and starting from scratch. Yes, starting from scratch!

And even though I mentally felt like I was done with this project, I gave it a go. One last ditch effort to make this system work before moving on.

And so I took everything down and started over….

Well, twenty minutes later, I finally found something that worked! And I couldn’t have been happier or more relieved that I found my winning solution!

Anyway, all of this time spent organizing and re-organizing reminded me of the importance of “failing forward” and continuing to move in the right direction.

Yes, I was experiencing failure after failure; but failure isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

When you fail, you are one step closer to finding something that does work.

In other words, for each failure, you’re one step closer to successfully achieving your goal.

Now, what you shouldn’t do is throw in the towel altogether and give up completely, thereby allowing failure to win.

Instead, fail forward. And that’s done by continuing on despite the bumps in the road.

Yes, even though you might feel like you’ve hit a stumbling block or you’re spinning your wheels, the key is to continue progressing.

Whether that means trying something else (in this case another idea) or moving on to plan B, whatever it is, just keep moving forward, maintaining your momentum.

So anyway, that’s what happened on Tuesday.

What do you want to organize?
