I teach you how to get organized so you can THRIVE!

So, last weekend I got back from vacation in South Carolina. And this week I’ve been busy playing catch up and getting back up to speed.

While I was on vacation I was reminded of the importance of surrounding yourself with like-minded people who are focused on improving themselves as well.

You see, I went on vacation with my three girlfriends who are also entrepreneurs. Our “vacation” was actually more of a “retreat” in that our goal for the trip was to help each other in areas where we need improvement.

If I had to describe our trip in 3 words I’d say: Healthy. Positive. Inspirational. Our trip was such a breath of fresh air.

Every morning we woke up, did some type of exercise to get our bodies moving, ate healthy breakfasts, and then did masterminding exercises for the majority of the afternoon.

For example, one of the masterminding exercises was to go around the circle and say our biggest strength and weakness and then offer suggestions for each person. I love exercises like these because you get other people’s perspective on how to improve in your weak areas, which might not be clear to you, but might be obvious to an outsider looking in.

We did exercises like these all day long.

At night, we cooked dinners together, had a glass of wine, and discussed our short and long term goals for both our personal lives and our businesses.

At the end of the trip we each left with notes filled with action items and goals that will help us get to the next level personally and professionally.

The trip was such a success and it just reminded me how much I love being around people that are continuously trying to improve themselves while helping each other. This type of positive energy is just so refreshing. We each left the trip feeling like we gained much more than the “lost” time that we invested into stepping away from our day-to-day lives and helping each other..

My question to you is – do the people in your life lift you up and encourage you to be the best person you can be? Or do they hold you back and instead drown you in their negativity? (I know how this feels and it prevents you from moving yourself forward.)

One thing I have learned since I started my business in 2008 is just how critical it is to surround yourself with positive, supportive people. This positive energy is contagious. After all, they say that you are the average of the 5 people you hang around the most.

Who are the 5 people you spend the most time with? And how are they contributing to your well being and success in life?

Anyway, that sums up the past two weeks.
