Are Inanimate Objects Controlling How You Feel?

Clutter is a funny thing. We fill our houses with inanimate objects. Things we need and things we don’t need. Things we use and things we don’t use. Things we love and things we no longer love.

As we all know, what goes in, must eventually come out. But when we never take some of these objects out (things that turn to clutter), well, the objects begin getting in the way of life, they trigger uncomfortable thoughts & emotions, and even lead to hurtful arguments with loved ones.

The crazy thing is, sometimes we do nothing about these objects for years! They cause pain yet we just continue to live with them, day after day, year after year, as if we had no power. We let these inanimate objects control how we feel and how we act (or don’t act).

Silly! We have all the power in the world! We’re talking about man-made objects which don’t talk or walk! Not people!

Of course, there can be obstacles to letting go of stuff (finding time, emotionally detaching, navigating our fearful thoughts, having support, accountability, learning the “how”, etc.).

But at the end of the day, if something is important enough that it’s a “must do” instead of “should do,” we make the time, we embrace uncomfortable emotions, we replace fearful thoughts with empowering ones, we find the support, we stay accountable to ourselves, and we figure out the how.

It’s that simple. Like anything in life, when we want it badly enough, we go beyond our comfort zone and take action.

The question is: how badly do you want it?

How badly do you want to declutter so you can feel more peace & calm at home?

How badly do you want to feel proud of your home?

How badly do you want to invite guests over without hesitation?

How badly do you want to show others that you can be organized too?

How badly do you want to end the bickering over clutter with your spouse/family?

What you want, wants you too! You just need to break through. And if you don’t know how, start by asking yourself these 5 key questions to start off 2018 feeling more organized!
