If you want to see results at home, there’s something you need to do. And that’s take action!

But you probably already know that…

But what creates action? Simply put, potential.

We all have potential. Each and every one of us!

But what affects potential? Your beliefs.

Your beliefs affect your potential. Your potential influences the action you take. And the amount of action you take leads to the results you get.

I first learned this concept when I became certified as a Robbins-Madanes Life Coach in 2017.

Beliefs >> Potential >> Action >> Results

It’s that simple.

If you want to see results inside your home, it begins with your beliefs.

Believe you can get organized and you’re already well on your way.

But if you’re like a lot of people, you may have negative beliefs around getting organized. Our belief system is created from experiences in the past. All it takes are up to four experiences for us to form a certain belief.

Think of your belief system like a table with four legs. Each leg is an experience and the table top is your belief.

For example, if you’ve tried to get organized in the past but quickly slipped back to your messy ways, consider that experience #1 (or leg #1).

Or maybe your spouse or teenager has criticized you on how disorganized you are, that’s experience #2 (or leg #2).

Or maybe you’ve been disorganized for decades so you think to yourself that’s just “who I am” or “it’s too late to change.” We’ll say that’s experience #3 (or leg #3).

And lastly, maybe you’re so busy or your standards are so high and so at one point you unconsciously told yourself getting organized was impossible. Consider that experience #4 (or leg #4).

Regardless, all of these experiences (the four legs) form a negative belief (the table top) around your ability to get organized.

And with that negative belief, you limit your potential and options. Limited potential leads to less action. Less action leads to minimal results. And minimal results reinforces the negative belief. It’s a cycle that feeds itself. Scientists calls this a positive feedback loop.

Bottom line is this: If you want to get organized, you need to change your beliefs.

But how do you change these beliefs when you can’t “undo” all those uncomfortable experiences?

Well, one thing you can do NOW is focus on four positive experiences where you’ve been successful in getting organized.

The smallest things like opening up your silverware drawer and appreciating the silverware tray you once added to the drawer years ago counts as success.

Or maybe there’s a towel at the top of your linen closet that is still beautifully folded from years ago when you re-organized the space.

Or maybe there’s a room that you seldom use in the house but stays completely organized.

Or maybe there’s an old to-do list somewhere on your desk where everything is checked off.

All of these seemingly minuscule wins, still count as success.

Focus on your success, re-build your table, and you’ll be headed in the right direction!

Supporting you in your journey,
Alejandra
