ALEJANDRA.TV IS NOW ORGANIZE & FLOW

If you made a list of all your organizing problems, you’d eventually reach a stopping point because there are a finite number of problems. Although you are unique, your problems are not. All organizing problems can be boiled down to a list of common issues.

On the other hand, if you made a list of organizing solutions, you’d never finish. The number of organizing solutions are infinite. Just look online. It’s easy to become overwhelmed with all the different ways to get organized.

For example, if you need to declutter your closet, there are literally thousands of solutions on how to do just that. We have more information than ever before, yet our homes are still disorganized.

Why?

While part of the challenge is getting ourselves to take action, another part is making a decision in order to take action. All actions require a decision first.

But we’re so overwhelmed with options nowadays, it can be hard to make decisions.

It’s like going to The Cheesecake Factory. If you’ve been there before, you may know where I’m going with this… The menu is the size of a book. And once you finally get to the dessert section, there’s literally 37 types of cheesecake to select from. You get decision fatigue just deciding what kind of cheesecake you want!

If you struggle with taking action to get organized because of the infinite number of organizing options out there (solutions, products, systems, tips), this is a reminder to go back to basics.

Instead of browsing endless solution after solution online, and never making a decision on how to setup an organizing system, start looking inside for answers.

  • What do YOU need to feel organized?
  • What’s important to YOU at home?
  • What does YOUR FAMILY need to be effective and efficient each day?
  • What does your CHILD need to go to school feeling organized each morning?

These answers can’t be found in an organizing image on Pinterest and you won’t hear them in a video on YouTube. Only YOU have the answers unique to YOU. The answers are there. They always have been, and always will be. You just need to discover them!

Sometimes we need a guide to help us get there, to speak the words we couldn’t voice, or to show us the ideas we couldn’t conceptualize. But ultimately, WE are the ones who have the key that unlocks the solution to our problems.

It’s easy to put so much emphasis on searching for the perfect organizing system that we never decide on anything and end up falling down a rabbit hole.

Keep in mind the bigger picture here. The goal is to get organized so you have more time for what matters most to you – family, friends, health, faith/spirituality, community, personal growth, career, or whatever it is for YOU.

Like I said in last week’s email on rocket science, organizing is just a big game of shuffling stuff around. Make a decision and get it done so you can focus on the bigger and better things life has to offer.

And if it helps you make a decision faster, give yourself permission to focus on function over aesthetics (even if you’re the type who thinks you need a beautiful environment to thrive). When the focus is on aesthetics it can be harder to achieve your goal. Function will always be easier.

Sending Love,
Alejandra
