If you want to maintain an organized living environment, you’ve got to create a system that works for everyone.

You see, although there might be some lazy husbands, for the most part, husbands don’t make a mess on purpose. The kids, for the most part, aren’t intentionally making mom and dad unhappy. But it’s easy for a home to quickly become disorganized. And disorganization can really take its toll on a family.thursday thoughts on organizing

Nothing is more frustrating than the tidy person who lives with a disorganized one (or two or three). Not only is it frustrating, but it’s safe to say there is conflict and possibly arguments between the husband and wife and between the parents and children.

So what’s the real issue?

While there could be several reasons why disorganization reigns, the major reason is probably because the house is set up according to one person’s organizing style. (Usually the wife’s/mother’s style.) It’s easy for the wife to stay organized since everything is set up around the way she ticks.

However, in order to get the husband and children organized, the family will need to modify their current organizing system(s) to match the styles of everyone involved.

Organization styles can be broken down into four main types. And I discuss all those types in detail in my Power Productivity Program. But the bottom line is this…if you don’t accommodate everyone in the house, organization will always be a point of contention.
