Does the thought of folding laundry make you want to pull out your hair? How Long Does it REALLY Take to Fold Laundry?

Since I just had a couple of loads of laundry come out of the dryer, I decided to do a quick video to find out just how long it would take me to fold everything. Most of the time we dread doing certain tasks or chorse because the mere thought of doing it overwhelmes us and give us a mental block. This leads to being stressed out and prevents us from moving forward. The hardest part isn’t doing the task; it’s just starting. Once you know how long a task will take, it can be much less daunting in the future.

Even though we’ve all folded laundry before, sometimes we forget that if we just buckle down and focus on the task at hand, we can knock it out in a short sprint. Here’s how I did it:

That’s wasn’t so bad. Do you have any tips for getting past your mental blocks? Let us know in the comments below.

Hi everyone. It’s Alejandra. And I am sitting here in my living room next to a giant pile of laundry that needs to be folded and for some reason, like the one chore that I really don’t like to do. Like there are some few chores that I don’t like to do but the one that I kind of like dread and I tend to put up a mental block around doing is folding the laundry. And I know I’m not the only person that doesn’t really enjoy folding the laundry. I know I’ve met tons of people and a lot of people don’t like to do it.

But it’s like it comes out of the dryer and then I feel like, “Oh, I need to set aside like an hour’s worth of time to fold the laundry and put it away, which is like completely not true, right? Like folding laundry does not take an hour. So what I’m going to do today is I am going to set a timer and just see how long it really does take me to fold the laundry.

So next time I have or next time I’m feeling like I have that mental block that’s like, “Alejandra, you don’t have an hour to fold the laundry so you need to like do it tomorrow or do it the next day.” I can just watch this video and remember that it probably only takes me like 10 or 15 minutes.

So the load of laundry next to me is just like a regular load between Ed and I. We don’t have kids so we don’t have a bigger pile or whatever so just two people and it’s all the darks. It’s not the whites but it’s still a good amount of clothes. So I’m going to zoom out here and you can see. Can you see the pile over here? I can’t get up and move the camera because then everything is going to shift or whatever.

I’m going to fold this laundry and I am going to set the timer and I’m going to make a guess that it’s probably going to take me about 12 minutes to fold the load of laundry. I could be wrong. It could be over. It could be under. But we will see. So, I am going to – can you see that? It’s on zero. I’m going to hit play. OK. I’m going to go. Let me zoom out so you can see what I’m doing.

Look, we’re at five minutes and I’m almost done. This doesn’t long at all. I don’t know like what I was thinking.

I’m done folding. OK. So that took six and a half minutes. That is not bad at all. I think – what did I said? I said 12 minutes. It did not take 12 minutes. It took half the time. So, oh my gosh! Folding laundry takes six minutes folding one load of laundry that was like a full load of laundry. It was all of our darks for the week. So it’s probably going to take like another maybe three minutes to put all the stuff away, by the time I put Ed’s stuff away in his closet and then my stuff away in my closet.
