Jewelry Box

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, unless they are buried in the bottom of a sock drawer, hiding under the couch or getting tarnished on your dresser.  While there are many jewelry boxes on the market today, finding one that fits your lifestyle and jewelry collection can be challenging.  It’s time to think outside of the jewelry box! Here are some tips to organizing your gems:

Necklaces: Long necklaces are the trend right now, but the traditional jewelry box isn’t very conducive to keeping them tangle free.  Also, if you have so many beautiful strands, why not show them off?

  • Hang them on pretty hooks or vintage drawer pulls.
  • Padded lingerie hangers are perfect for sliding your necklaces on and tucking them away in the closet.
  • For a fun, shabby-chic look, hang the metal head of a rake upside down and adorn it with your jewels.
  • Use your stocking holders after the holidays to hand long necklaces off the side of shelves or dressers.

Earrings and Rings: Earrings and rings can easily get lost if they are not returned to their proper place. Anything with a compartment will do the trick!

  • Paint or decorate an egg carton, each compartment holds a set of earrings
  • Slide a muffin tin in your drawer for larger earrings or baubles
  • If your collection includes longer fish hook style earrings, find a vase, fill it with decorative rocks or marbles, then hook the earrings over the edge for a storage and décor solution.
  • For a rustic feel, hang a cheese grater and attach your fish hook earrings.

Bracelets: Bracelets can always be hung and displayed but for the heavier bangles, storage can be a challenge.

Jewelry in Blue Box

  • Slide bracelets on a paper towel holder to make use of vertical space
  • If you’re a crafter, you know how versatile ribbon and gift wrap wheels can be – especially for displaying your bracelets!
  • Beanbags can be used for more than just a fun carnival game. Wrap a few bracelets around each one and tuck away for safe keeping.

Brooches, watches and cufflinks, oh my! For those crucial jewelry pieces that can’t be hung, and you’d rather not tuck away, there are plenty of unique options.

  • A colorful multi-level dessert tray makes a great place to drop the pieces you wear daily.
  • Cups, mugs and teacups look pretty and can be a great place to store your brooches and cufflinks.

There are plenty of jewelry storage option in stores and online, but give your jewelry its own place with style and personality. Start by looking around your home for things that suit your lifestyle and décor and work from there. Here’s to keeping your gems organized!
