I’ve tried several filing systems and this is hands-down my favorite of them all. Why? It’s simple to maintain and visual. I’m totally the creative type so I NEED to have things visual in order to know/remember what I have.
This system uses colored filing tabs to differentiate the various file categories. For example, I know all of my tax documents and returns are in the blue section (blue = tax). Therefore, when I need to retrieve a tax document, I just look for the “blues”. I could go on and on about the various colors…
Another reason why I’m obsessed with this system is that it requires little maintenance. For example, most people re-create file folders as the contents inside the folders change (e.g., new car, new home, new credit card, etc). With this system, there is ZERO need to re-create folders (create folders once and you’re done). It’s a bit hard to explain how it works, watch my video below if you want more info.
